Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh passes away
Delhi, a well-known Tamil actor Ganesh, who was well-known for his humor and supporting roles, passed away on Saturday. He was eighty years old.
Mahadevan, Ganesh's son, shared the news of his father's passing on Instagram. According to reports, the Nayakan actor died of an age-related disease at his home in Ramapuram.
Ganesh was born at Tirunelveli on August 1, 1944. Since Ganesh began his career as a theater performer with the Dakshina Bharata Nataka Sabha, a theatrical troupe based in Delhi, Delhi became a part of his name. It's interesting to note that Ganesh was a member of the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974 before making his film debut in Pattina Pravesam (1976), directed by K Balachander.
He portrayed the lead in MA Kaja's Engamma Maharani (1981) and the antagonist in Apoorva Sagotharargal (1989) and Chidambara Ragasiyam (1985), in addition to his comedic parts. Avvai Shanmugi (1996), Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990), Sri Raghavendar (1985), Sindhu Bhairavi (1985), and Thenali (2001) are a few of his noteworthy films.
His performance in Pasi (1979) earned him the Special Prize of the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. In 1994, J Jayalalithaa, the Chief Minister at the time, bestowed upon him the title of Kalaimamani. His last film performance was in Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan and Shankar.
