Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi's Amaran is praised by Vijay.
Four weeks after its premiere, actor-politician Vijay has praised the film and congratulated the filmmakers of Amaran, the biography of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, which stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. Rajkumar Periasamy, the director of Amaran, shared a photo of himself with Vijay and another of the two of them from twelve years ago. Rajkumar wrote: "Vijay sir, you have my love! I'm grateful. Every day, I offer up prayers for you! May God bless you! #Amaran. He went on to say that the two photos are separated by 12 years, 2 months, 1 day, and 15 hours. Interestingly, Rajkumar Periasamy assisted AR Murugadoss in directing Vijay's popular action movie Thuppakki (2012).
When the movie debuted on October 31, it received overwhelmingly positive reviews. According to our CE review, "Sivakarthikeyan will undoubtedly receive a lot of praise for his physical transformation, for dominating the action sequences, and for his inspirational speeches, but I was particularly struck by how he seemed to exude an easy sense of goodness and vulnerability, even though his job required him to be an alpha male at all times." Watch him cry as he begs for the life of a teammate. During his OTA ceremony, observe the delight in his eyes while Indhu smiles subtly in the background of this exquisitely composed picture. Observe him embrace Indhu and his daughter before leaving, only to decide to come back and steal another embrace.
Rahul Bose plays Colonel Amit Singh Dabas, the commanding officer of Mukund, while Bhuvan Arora plays Sepoy Vikram Singh. The supporting cast is completed by Lallu, Mir Salman, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, and Gaurav Venkatesh. The book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh served as the inspiration for Amaran. Stunt director Stefan Richter, editor Kalaivanan, cinematographer CH Sai, and music composer GV Prakash Kumar are all part of Amaran's group. Sony Pictures International Productions and Raaj Kamal Films International, owned by Kamal Haasan, are funding the movie.
