Kamal Haasan requests fans to call him Kamal, or KH than "Ulaganayagan."

 Actor Kamal Haasan announced on his official X handle on Monday that he no longer wishes to be called by any title or prefix, such as "Ulaganayagan." He wrote a lengthy letter in Tamil and English outlining his reasons for asking supporters to refer to him as Kamal Haasan, KH, or Kamal going forward. 

"I have always felt a deep sense of gratitude over being bestowed with endearing titles such as Ulaganayagan, among others," the actor wrote in a lengthy note. It has always been humbling to receive such recognition from the public and respected colleagues and admirers, and I am very touched by your love in bestowing it upon me."

"The art of cinema transcends beyond any one individual, and I am but a student of the craft, forever hoping to evolve, learn, and grow," he added, referring to his ongoing learning process in the field of film. He continued by asking fans to avoid using titles. "I firmly believe that art should not be prioritized over the artist. I would rather be grounded, always conscious of my flaws and my responsibility to get better. Therefore, after giving it some thought, I feel obliged to politely refuse any such titles or prefixes. I respectfully ask that from now on, everyone who knows me—my fans, the media, the film industry, party officials, and other Indians—just call me Kamal Haasan, Kamal, or KH. Once again, I want to thank you for all of your nice acts over the years. Please understand that I made this choice out of humility and a desire to always be loyal to my roots and mission.

The actor makes the request, becoming the second celebrity to do so. Actor Ajith has asked fans to refer to him as "AK" or "Ajith Kumar" rather than "Thala."
