Vaazhai - A Children’s Drama

Vaazhai is a 2024 Tamil film directed by Mari Selvaraj, and co-produced by Dzuni + Ausudar, Navvi Sutudiosu, and Farmers Masudar Plan Productions. The movie features debut actors Ponvel M., Rahul R., Kalaiyarasan, and Nikila Vimal in key roles, with supporting performances from J. Satish Kumar, Divya Duraisamy, Janaki, and Nivedita Rajappan.

Plot Summary

Set in 1998, the film revolves around a boy named Shivanaidan from a small Tamil Nadu village. Despite being a brilliant student, Shivanaidan is forced to work on a banana plantation due to his family’s poverty. As he dreams of escaping the grueling labor, the film portrays his struggles with family debts, personal aspirations, and the harsh realities of farm labor. In a tragic turn of events, a fatal accident involving overloaded trucks transporting bananas changes his life forever.
