Tesla Appoints Indian-Origin Vaibhav Taneja as New CFO
Tesla, Inc., the electric car maker, on Monday announced the appointment of Vaibhav Taneja as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Taneja, who is currently the company's Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), will take over as CFO from Zachary Kirkhorn, who is stepping down after four years in the role.
Taneja is a graduate of the University of Delhi and Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He has over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, and has held senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and McKinsey & Company. He joined Tesla in 2016 as the Vice President of Finance and Accounting, and was later promoted to CAO in 2019.
In his new role as CFO, Taneja will be responsible for Tesla's financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations, and tax functions. He will also play a key role in the company's capital allocation decisions.
"Vaibhav is a highly experienced and accomplished financial executive," said Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO. "He has a deep understanding of our business and the financial markets, and he is a strong leader who will help Tesla continue to grow and succeed."
Taneja said he is excited to take on the role of CFO at Tesla. "I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Elon and the Tesla team," he said. "I am committed to helping Tesla achieve its mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy."
Taneja's appointment is a significant milestone for Tesla, as he is the first Indian-origin CFO of the company. It is also a sign of Tesla's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Taneja's appointment is effective immediately.
