Happy Raksha Bandhan To all my brave brothers and sweet sisters..
Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan (रक्षा बन्धन) is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between
brothers and sisters; the festival is also popularly used to celebrate any
brother-sister relationship between men and women who are relatives or
biologically unrelated.
"Raksha Bandhan", also known as
"rakhi",
is an occasion to reaffirm the relationship. "Raksha Bandhan",
apart from love and caring, is also about gifts.
While the sister expresses her trust on her brother
by tying "rakhi" on his hand, it is obligatory, so to speak, on the
latter's part to acknowledge it by offering gifts to her that will bring a wide
smile on her face.
While it is true that "Raksha Bandhan"
has a bigger significance than just tying "rakhi" and
offering gifts, it is equally true that every girl expects a gift from her
brother on this auspicious day that will make her feel special.
Choosing
that special gift for their beloved sisters (keeping the budget in
consideration) many a time becomes quite a big task for the brothers.
While there are certain standard "rakhi" gifts such as chocolates and dolls, which are being used since time immemorial and can be used till the end of Earth, there is also some fresh new-age items that can inspire your gift ideas.
