Tamil Nadu Government begins to think the existing deficiencies in X and XII board examinations. It is clear, that students are taking more marks just like that. The existing common practice in setting the question papers now is asking questions only from the prescribed test books. It has become convenient to students as well as school to undergo mechanical way of practice even without bothering the understanding level of the subjects. Just learning, and blindly memorizing the subject became the order of the day in X and XII Tamil Nadu board exams.

Moreover, to get admissions in profession colleges like Engineering, medicine, law etc, only marks got in Board examination is the deciding factor, no need of writing any Entrance Examinations. So, some schools never bothered even to teach the complete syllabus of IX and XI. It is obvious that the botheration is only the marks not knowledge. This provided many draw backs the education system. Even the students who got high marks in XII are not able to score well in college Education.

To sort out this problem, Tamil Nadu Government has decided to change the syllabus past with to that of CBSE pattern.

To initiate this approach, to put a full stop, the blind by hearting system of subjects in XII standards the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to introduce new system in.

To put this is to action, a committee was formed having its president, the former Regional Director of CBSE Mr. Bala Subramanian. The subjects regarding the changes to be brought in SSLC and XII board examination are discussed in the meetings concerned. It is decided to bring changes to XII examinations, then X examination and the step by step to all the other classes. It is also decided to execute the changes from the academic year 2015-2016.
