Is belief in global warming based on religious ideas?

You're confusing a number of things. Belief in global warming has nothing to do with "environmentalism", it is about believing in science (and particularly in physics). You can believe in global warming and still advocate doing nothing, or even lie about it to others so that they do nothing. I'm fairly certain that many of the Republican leadership feels this way. They know it's true, but it's politically expedient for them to pretend it isn't, or else "kick the global warming can down the road" like they do with other problems they find politically intractable.

You're also confusing a sense of personal responsibility and a respect for the place where you live with religion. Clearly many religions teach that you should strive to leave the world a better place (or at least no worse), but many non-religious people feel the same way. Didn't your parents ever tell you "If you open a drawer, close it" or "If you make a mess, clean it up"? That is the essence of environmentalism and while beliefs like that have a place in many religions they are also independent of religion.
