The Shield Triple Threat At WrestleMania 32
Roman Reigns wants WWE to book himself versus Dean Ambrose versus Seth Rollins in an all Shield triple threat main event at WrestleMania 32.
Reigns was speaking with The Sun and put over his desire to see The Shield narrative come full circle. The idea of Ambrose vs Reigns vs Rollins has been talked about for some time. Even before they split, there were rumours that the triple threat would occur at WrestleMania 30.
When the group subsequently broke up in June 2014, the rumours of Ambrose vs Reigns vs Rollins heated up. The WWE have resisted making the match thus far, but it remains one of the bankable narratives that they could run in the future.
“It should be a Triple Threat match. The Shield reunites to fight each other for one more night,” Reigns told The Sun when discussing WrestleMania 32’s main event.
He dismissed the idea of facing The Rock, “Where I’m at right now, with our family ties, I don’t really see that happening, but if it did happen, it would be in WWE. Going out on a limb right now, I’d say most likely not, but this is WWE, anything can change.”
The fact is that The Rock is too big for a match with Reigns. If he comes back, it has to be against someone much bigger. The anticipated main event for WrestleMania 32 is Brock Lesnar facing The Rock, as it is the commercially mainstream match that would fill the 100,000 capacity Cowboys Stadium.
A triple threat of Reigns vs Ambrose vs Rollins could still take place at Mania 32 as the co-main event. Creatively it makes sense for the trio to come against each other at some point and critically it would be a really good match.
