1,696 job offers from IT firms for Anna varsity students
Chennai: As many as 1,112 students from various departments of the Anna University have received at least one offer during the eight-day bulk hiring process which ended on Monday.
Four IT companies interviewed 1,300 students who took the online test. At the end of the programme on Tuesday, four companies presented as many as 1,696 employment offers to Vice-Chancellor M. Rajaram.
The companies that participated include Accenture (491 offers), CTS (402), Infosys (567) and IBM (236).
Candidates received offers with annual salary package ranging from Rs.3.2 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh in this second phase of placement.
According to Mr. Rajaram, the State-level placement programme would be launched in December-January for all university colleges and affiliated institutions.
In the third phase starting on Wednesday, non-IT core companies would participate and as many as 500 students were expected to get placement offers, said T. Thyagarajan, Director of Centre of University Industry Collaboration, in-charge of placements.
In the first phase as many as 500 students were placed in IT companies with packages ranging from Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs. 17.6 lakh.
