Jayalalithaa files case against Subramanian Swamy Twitter tweet

   From CHENNAI: province chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday initiated another criminal defamation case against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy for his statement against her on a social networking website.

This is the third defamation case filed by Jayalalithaa against Swamy within the last one week.
Last Fri, Hindu tweeted that Jayalalithaa government had given permission to carry a memorial meeting for a World Tamil Movement leader within the state. following day, the department of public (law and order-H) issued a GO stating the statement of Swamy was "per se denigrating against the chief minister in respect of her conduct within the discharge of public functions."

Taking note of the GO, S Shanmugavelayuthan, official within the Madras tribunal, filed a petition stating that it had been a work case for according sanction to town official to initiate defamation proceedings.

On Tuesday, town official M L Jegan filed a criminal defamation petition within the principal district and sessions court. He aforementioned the post was "malicious, denigrating and directly impeached the name of the chief minister."

The post, that had been "released within the electronic media," was "without any basis and verification."
