| All credit should be given to the bowlers. Ishant and Shami shared the 10 wickets between them. With the former taking his 5th five wicket haul in Tests. The pitch assisted the bowlers but it was important to bowl in the right areas which the duo were able to do. Nobody got going for the Kiwis as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Williamson lived a charmed life but that too didn't last for long. Contributions from the lower-order helped them get close to the 200-mark which looked impossible at one stage. |
It has been India's day throughout. Dhawan ensured that there was no batting collapses as he mixed caution with aggression and brought up his fifty. He looks well set to convert this into a big one. Pujara gave him good company and together they put on 87-runs for the second wicket. Vijay was the man to miss out as he got a peach from Southee very early in the innings. Boult came back to account for Pujara and there were some nervy moments in the end which Ishant did well to survive.
